Finally. It's Never Too Late!!!

growth Oct 01, 2019

Hey Life Designers, I hope this finds you well. A word of warning about this week’s Intentional Tuesday. It’s going to be a tad self-serving. I can’t help myself. I’m super stoked to announce the release of my first book.

Never Too Late: Get Unstuck, Escape Mediocrity, and Design a Life You Love

This has been two years in the making and I’m really happy to be bringing this into the world right now. I thought I’d spend just a couple of minutes telling you what the book is about and what, I think, makes it different from most books that you may have come across.

To start, let me ask you a question…

Is there a part of your life where you know you want to make a change but you have not done anything to make that change happen? Perhaps you’ve been living with this suboptimal condition for a long time. Instead of working on the thing, you spend your energy working around it. You tell yourself, “it’s not that bad.” And maybe it isn’t. But is “not too bad” any way to live? I say … no.

In the book, I give this way of thinking a name. I call it, Living by Default. We accept things the way they are without ever questioning how they could be. In many ways, Living By Default convenient. It certainly feels easier than doing something about it, especially when we tell ourselves that we probably can’t do anything about it anyway.

Although Living By Default feels convenient, it is profoundly unfulfilling. Mediocre. That’s actually the best case scenario. The worst case is downright agony. In the book I make a strong case for why Life By Default is no way to spend your precious time on Earth. I also propose an alternative.

Living By Design. When we Live By Design we are intentional about our lives. Intentional about what we include and what we exclude. Intentional about how we allocate our limited resources. When we Live By Design we are empowered to make choices rather than have them made for us. Sounds easy, right? Of course, it’s not. Thus, the book!

Never Too Late offer tons of strategies and techniques for moving towards a Life By Design. That said, it’s not a “how to” manual. I don’t like reading those so I definitely didn’t want to write one. I wanted to write a book that I would want to read. Quick and to the point. This book reads fast. It’s jam packed with information, but it won’t weigh you down. Each chapter is just one or two pages, so you can pick it up and put it down as you need to. (Though I hope you won’t want to put it down.).

I wanted the book to be challenging, yet inspirational. Informative, but also provocative.

I didn’t want Never Too Late to feel like a crowded lecture hall. I wanted it to feel like a couple of friends grabbing coffee … or a beer.

I hope, and I believe, I’ve succeeded.

If you are interested in supporting me on this journey, I will be incredibly grateful. We live in a very noisy world and it’s incredibly hard to pick out the signals that are worth hearing. I believe Never Too Late is one of them. If you do too, then I’m asking for your help. Here’s what you can do…

  1. Set your alarm for 8am on Saturday morning. (October 5th). You can add it to your calendar.
  2. Go to Amazon.com or www.nevertoolatebook.com
  3. Grab a copy. (Or 20)
  4. Grab a pumpkin spice latte and find a comfy chair.
  5. Read it.
  6. Tell me what you think. But most importantly, tell Amazon what you think. Book reviews are absolutely crucial in the early stages of a launch. Writing an honest review is HUUUUGE!!!!
  7. If you like it, tell a friend.

At this point, I thank you for your time and your attention. I promise, we’ll return to our regularly schedule programming next week! In the meantime…

Prosperous Journey,

-zog
